The Rio Grande is a humble river that has drifted through the sage of the Albuquerque bosque in a timeless companionship with the peoples that dwell in the surrounding pueblos. It is a river filled with stories and magic and the confluence of the Mexican, Spanish, and Native American cultures. It whispers and it haunts and we go to it as respite from the dusty brutality of the southwestern desert. The river is a balm and in it we seek peace. It is this image that the Rio Grande Guitar Quartet clings to and hopes to offer—music and the soul, succor and abatement. |
